Grants are payouts that don’t have to be paid back.
You will find people with ?? all over their jackets trying to sell you books or guys selling workshops that will teach you to get grants, but do not be taken in by them, they are scams. In the end they will give you the phone numbers for Federal and State Agencies you can find by searching the web.
Governments rarely give out grants to start-up businesses unless the business is in a targeted industries, like bio-tech and the grants are not usually in the form of cash but in future payouts relating to some factor like job creation. Being a women doesn’t change anything.
What you need is a low interest loan which are available through the Small Business Administration (SBA) or your state or local economic development agencies. You should contact them for information.
Despite what most people think, governments do not provide the financing for people to start businesses. In my state there are 1/2 million businesses registered. There is no way government could supply the start-up financing for them. The government would not have the money.
It also wouldn’t make sense–if the business owner doesn’t have a financial investment in the business she would have no risk. If times were tough and required 16 hour days and hard work to stay afloat, she could walk away with no consequences because the financial burden was assumed by the government. It just doesn’t work that way…Sorry.
