The first thing you should do is fill out a Free Application for Federal Student AID (FAFSA). This form gives the government information it needs to determine what aid you qualify for and what you and your parents are expected to contribute based on income. This form also helps to make grants available to you based on need.

There are scholarships available based on need, race, and other factors. I recommend going to FastWeb.com to find out about scholarships that you may qualify for based on your heritage and other factors. There are also books available through your local library, and your guidance counselor would be an excellent resource as well.

    Good luck on your search.

. They will ask you a few questions and then they search through all of the scholarships around the world and pick out which ones apply to you and you can go through and apply for whichever ones you want to. And they e-mail you when a deadline is approaching. And it’s free.

People have done studies and statistically you have about a 7% chance better than someone who is white, but you can’t just “get” scholarships you have to send in your transcript to a college stating your GPA and SAT scores well they find that out anyway and see if you get excepted (you have a better chance to get into a college than a white kid) and remember apply to many colleges alright MANY and I’m serious cuz my brother was gonna go to Rutgers University, he was turned down by Georgetown,UPENN and instead of Rutgers he go into stern business school at NYU which is in the top 5 in business schools (and some say its number 2) so it doesn’t matter if its 20 dollars to apply or 70 apply to at least 7 or 8 long shot schools and 3 or 4 schools you think you have a good chance of making (keep in mind Rutgers University is still a very good school) oh yeah and look into business you can make a whole lot of money in business and apply to penn state its like 13th in the country in business and its pretty easy to get into. APPLY APPLY APPLY!!

Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant — this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for women of your age

Aside from FAFSA and Pell Grant , you may want to explore private foundation grants

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center’s Foundation Grants for Individuals Online . It’s a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for “students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices.” You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

A good friend of mine recommend this site to me. He said he not only used it to help him search for the college that was right for him, but also earn a scholarship! He now goes to my school on a full scholarship from that site!
