I once heard someone say that as an older single woman returning to school there was some type of a loan or grant available. Does anyone know anything about it?
Go to your local community collage and sign up for the class’s you want to take and when you do, tell them you want to apply for a Pell Grant.. The collage will give you an application and the other information you need
goofygirlky Said,
The Business and Professional Women’s Foundation offers a scholarship to women 25 and older.
Check individual schools as well, my university has scholarships available specifically for older, non-traditional students. If you do not already have a bachelors degree, then you should still qualify for a federal Pell Grant.
imisidro Said,
I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website
You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant — this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for women of your age
Aside from FAFSA and Pell Grant , you may want to explore private foundation grants
For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center’s Foundation Grants for Individuals Online . It’s a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for “students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices.” You may be able to find grants for older women from private foundations.
